Nordling Underwood Associates is the premiere estate sale and appraisal service company in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1975 by Irene Underwood who since 1979 has been a Senior Member of American Society of Appraisers. She received her BA and MA degrees from University of California at Berkeley. She has served as president of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of ASA and has chaired many personal property committees on the national and local level. Irene’s mother, Ida Nordling, a respected and well known antiques dealer, instilled the interest of antiques and provided Irene with her first experiences as a dealer and collector. Irene’s experience as an antiques dealer was an ideal training ground for the expertise needed to further her career in the world of appraising. Irene is often called to testify as an expert witness in California.

Now her daughter, Lesley Underwood, is following in her footsteps and is undertaking the rigorous appraisal program and accreditation offered by The American Society of Appraisers. She is a candidate for senior membership. Both Lesley and Irene are members of American Decorative Arts Forum and The Ceramic Circle.
